Safeguarding

Protection is part of how we work, not an afterthought

Peace Builder Trust is committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk, staff, volunteers, and everyone who takes part in our programmes, in the UK and through international partners.

Our commitment

Everyone deserves to be safe

Safeguarding runs through recruitment, training, partner agreements, monitoring visits, and how we respond when something is not right. Trustees receive regular updates on safeguarding performance and serious incidents in line with Charity Commission expectations.

Full policies and reporting routes are shared with staff, volunteers, and partners. Summaries suitable for the public will be published in our publications library as they are approved.

What we expect

  • Prevention

Clear standards, training, and safe recruitment reduce risk before harm occurs.

  • Recognition

Staff and partners know the signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and act early.

  • Reporting

Concerns are escalated promptly through defined routes, including statutory agencies where required.

  • Learning

We review incidents and near-misses honestly and improve policies and practice.

Reporting concerns

If something worries you, tell us

If you believe a child or adult is at immediate risk, contact the police or local authority safeguarding team first, then inform Peace Builder Trust.

For safeguarding concerns related to our work, email info@peacebuilder.uk with “Safeguarding” in the subject line. We treat all reports seriously and confidentially within the limits of law and safety.

Partners and programmes

The same standards internationally

Bangladesh programme partners agree to safeguarding clauses, monitoring, and training expectations before delivery begins. UK trustees review partner performance and can suspend work if standards are not met.
